On November 12, 2003, shareholders of Biogen Inc. (BGEN) will vote concerning a proposed merger with IDEC Pharmaceuticals Corporation (IDPH). If the merger is approved, the combined company will be renamed to “BIOGEN IDEC INC” and the trading symbol will become “BIIB”. Each share of BGEN common stock will be converted into the right to receive 1.15 BIIB common shares. The merger is expected to become effective on or about November 13, 2003.
